Jamboree was a little disappointing in some ways. Golf was fantastic the weather miserable. On the first day North lost badly to Scotland 3 nil in the morning foursomes and 4 1/2 to l 1/2 in the afternoon.
Wednesday was too wet a.m. to hold foursomes so just played 8 singles and North won 6/2 against the South.
Thursday another very wet day North won 5/2 against Midlands.
Over all we finished third but everyone played very good golf.

An all "Cheshire" affair
In what must be a very rare if not unique occasion, not only were the Northern Counties President and Captain from Cheshire but so too were the finalists, Sue and Barbara. After some stunning golf all week on a very demanding course in Durham and a closely contested final, Sue finally came out the winner 1up. So for the second year running Sue Dye is the Northern Counties Champion and adds to her recent win in Southampton when she won the English Seniors title.
