SENIOR LADIES' ENGLISH CHAMPIONSHIPS
PLAYED AT DELAMERE GOLF CLUB
24th--27th April 2007
Nine of our Cheshire Seniors entered this event and after two days of strokeplay, Sue Dye (Delamere) was the leading qualifier and Alanna Vine (Stockport) qualified in 15th place. Both ladies unfortunately lost their first round matches on Thursday morning, but well done for getting thus far. The Division A event was eventually won by Sue Ellis ( Dorset) who beat Hilary Smyth (Yorkshire) 3 & 2.
The Division B event was won by Frances Lindley (Gloucestershire) who beat Judy McCairns (Oxfordshire) 2 & 1.
Incidently, Frances had a hole in one at the 12th.

NORTHERN COUNTIES CHAMPIONSHIPS
PLAYED AT ILKLEY GOLF CLUB
22nd--24th May 2007
12 Cheshire Ladies made the trip to Ilkley to take part in this event and what a wonderful week it was.
Luci Foster (Bramhall) Barbara Laird (Sandiway) and Sue Dye (Delamere) all came through the Qualifying round on Tuesday. Luci won the 2nd nett prize with a 72.
Barbara and Sue played magnificently in their match play rounds. Unfortunately Barbara was beaten on the 18th by Elaine Elliott (N'land) in her semi final. Sue Dye however, won her semi-final match against Fiona Anderson (Lancs ) and went on to beat Elaine in the final 3/2.
It was a stunning display of golf!
Sue is the first Northern Champion to come from Cheshire since Helen Garnett (Ringway) won in 1993
