Caroline Marron (Bromborough) has won the Northern Vets Championship played at Ponteland G.C beating Pat Wrightson from Yorkshire 4/3 in the final.
Barbara Laird (Sandiway) also qualified but lost in the quarter finals.
WELL DONE CAROLINE!
Caroline Marron (Bromborough) has become the Senior Women's English Close Amateur Champion 2010. She beat Buckinghamshire's Carole Weir on the 18th green at Littlestone GC, holing a 10 foot putt for par.

It is with great sadness that we annouce the death of Beryl Dennis
(Prenton GC)
Beryl was Captain of the Association in 1986.
Our sympathies go to her family at this sad time.

2. Scroll down to "click here to download entry form" below the relevant competition
3. Click on this link and a "File Download" box will appear asking if you want to open or save the file
4. Click "Open" and the Entry Form will be displayed
5. Go to file (top left corner) and select "print"
6. Click on "OK" to print the form
Send your form to the appropriate Competition Secretary in the usual way.

A match against the Cheshire County B Team has been arranged for
Wednesday, 2nd September at Ringway Golf Club. Tee 9.30am
The format will be 8 singles matches.
It is hoped to make this an annual fixture earlier in the year and as always your support will be most welcome.

has become the Northern Counties Champion for the second year running beating Barbara Laird (Sandiway) 1up in the final at Brancepeth Castle Golf Club in Durham

WHAT AN ACHIEVEMENT!
Sue Dye (Delamere Forest) and Barbara Laird (Sandiway) both reached the Final of the English Senior Ladies Championship played at Stoneham Golf Club Southampton, last week.
Sue beat Barbara 3/2.
Many congratulations to both our ladies.

Please note that the Committee have decided NOT to use a balloting system for the 2008 Field Days. Handbooks will be ready in January so get your entries in early to avoid disappointment. We hope that this system will enable members to plan their golf for the year and avoid the frustration of losing out in a ballot.

What a great day! We negotiated 5 shots and won the match by 4 games to 2. The weather was a bit cold but at least it stayed fine and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. The men were very gracious in defeat. Our President Shirley, and the Captain, Lady Captain and Lady President of Sale Golf Club joined us for the meal afterwards. Well done team!!

Great news for some of our Seniors playing at Scarcroft! The weather was lovely despite a cool breeze.

in the 1st round and then went on to beat
Liz Pearson & Cecily Chorton (Harrogate) in the 2nd round.
Jan McGowan & Jenny Jump (Bromborough) had a bye in the 1st round but then went on to win their 2nd round match against Julia Horton & Ros Coppin(Selby)
The 3rd & 4th rounds are being played on Wednesday, 18th April so watch this space to see details of their progress.
In the 3rd round, Nan Paton and Jean Thexton beat Anne Wade & Vivien Close from The Bradford Golf Club but unfortunately lost their quarter final match.
Jan McGowan & Jenny Jump lost their 3rd round match.
Hard luck, but well played girls!!
The final was an all Yorkshire affair.
The eventual winners of the Northern Foursomes were Jackie & Katie Barraclough (East Bierley) who beat Adele Mitchell & Elaine Pearson (Keighley)
SENIOR LADIES' ENGLISH CHAMPIONSHIPS
PLAYED AT DELAMERE GOLF CLUB
24th--27th April 2007
Nine of our Cheshire Seniors entered this event and after two days of strokeplay, Sue Dye (Delamere) was the leading qualifier and Alanna Vine (Stockport) qualified in 15th place. Both ladies unfortunately lost their first round matches on Thursday morning, but well done for getting thus far. The Division A event was eventually won by Sue Ellis ( Dorset) who beat Hilary Smyth (Yorkshire) 3 & 2.
The Division B event was won by Frances Lindley (Gloucestershire) who beat Judy McCairns (Oxfordshire) 2 & 1.
Incidently, Frances had a hole in one at the 12th.

NORTHERN COUNTIES CHAMPIONSHIPS
PLAYED AT ILKLEY GOLF CLUB
22nd--24th May 2007
12 Cheshire Ladies made the trip to Ilkley to take part in this event and what a wonderful week it was.
Luci Foster (Bramhall) Barbara Laird (Sandiway) and Sue Dye (Delamere) all came through the Qualifying round on Tuesday. Luci won the 2nd nett prize with a 72.
Barbara and Sue played magnificently in their match play rounds. Unfortunately Barbara was beaten on the 18th by Elaine Elliott (N'land) in her semi final. Sue Dye however, won her semi-final match against Fiona Anderson (Lancs ) and went on to beat Elaine in the final 3/2.
It was a stunning display of golf!
Sue is the first Northern Champion to come from Cheshire since Helen Garnett (Ringway) won in 1993
Jamboree--Royal Cromer August 7th - 9th 2007

BREAKING NEWS!!
Sue Dye (Delamere) has just become the English Senior Ladies' Strokeplay CHAMPION.
She had a four under par, 36 hole total of 146 up at Gosforth Park, Northumberland this week and has since been selected to play in the English Senior Ladies' International team in Sweden, next month.
In the same event, Barbara Laird (Sandiway) posted a score of 157 for 36 holes and was placed fourth and has been selected as a reserve for the International team.
